I suffer with bipolar disorder and yet I hate and love the illness.
Strangely enough I have created some of my best works in my 'epsisodes'. In fact when I'm okish I have no motivation but when depressed or manic the ideas flow.
Im all flued up right now and my head is awful so I apologise if I am a little techy.
On the positive side yesterday I did more work on my symphony, started and finished an abstract oil about Armageddon entitled 'The Last Masturbation'. I also did some sculptures.
Arno Stern used to say that : Drawing is equal to Intention , in french one can read : dessin (drawing) = dessein (intention)
When a piece of art is not properly joined to the body as in dancing, it becomes its projection.
But who can say where the body really lies! It depends most probably of the relationship the artist has with himself.
Art ca become a psychotherapeutic search,so as to become well again.
A dialogue between the differant facets of the artist's personality.That can apply to the spiritual realm too.
A drawing can be an exploration of the personality of the artist.
To create is not a luxurious activity, it is LIFE itself.
It is not a diversion or a sedative as would have said Freud!
Creation belongs to three realms : the real, the symbolic, the imaginative.
We can call it : ART BRUT
