I associate to the images I create. Looking at what I perceived as holes in this figure’s chest, I thought about all the wounded souls seeking recovery and compassion in our chaotic world. Since that is a very global subject, I thought of focusing o…

This is a most extraordinary work of art. I can feel this one. There are times when I feel trapped by society's expectations of me and how I should behave as a female. I find the more pressure that is brought to bear upon me to conform, the harder I…

I visited a cactus garden on a midnight walk and to my great surprise and delight I felt swept away into this otherworldy and psychedelic realm. The vibrant colors create a sense of being immersed in color and a magical wonderland. Unlike Alice, I d…

Love the mood and soft blue hues that enhance the feeling of lonliness of this lonely blue boy. I have a frightened blue girl in my portfolio on RB paired with a classic song of Janis Joplin. Maybe they should meet!! :))

About Me:
I am a Psychologist who began taking digital photographs
three years ago. Although my work is very diverse,
I enjoy using my Nikon SLR D80 to create abstracts
of nature using bark, rock, plants, water and flowers as
my material. I often feel that my camera is my paint brush
given the painterly quality of my abstract photography.

THE DARK GODDESS

The image of the Dark Goddess is in the Art section.
This is another macro image of a Palm Tree Trunk. My last
photograph of my story that takes place in intergalactic space shows
Ged swimming the water tunnels on Tandaloor to rescue
the princess before she is initiated into the Swift running
tribe who plan to brand her with the tribe’s fertility marks.
She is unaware that Ged is very close to the phylum where
the Princess is sequestered. Time is running out. The King’s
army are approaching the… Continue

Criminalization of Pain#2

The image paired with this piece is in the art section.
This a companion piece to my painterly photograph and editorial titled “the criminalization of pain.” Executive director of the Pain Relief Network, Siobhan Reynolds has devoted her life to patients who suffer pain and those who treat them. I have known Siobhan for many years and was devastated when I learned of her husband’’s death, Sean who had a brain embolism after his doctor was imprisioned for treating his severe pain. Using the bark… Continue

Ha ha...you won't find THE answer from me....only "an" answer or a very minute part of it.....
My perspective of you is just a tiny fragment of a great whole.....(a bit like universal truth...our own truth only makes up such a tiny part of it).......
But I love your appreciation of natural beauty, of nature, of animals (your beautiful dogs), of the infinite tiny messages that the universe leaves for us to see and "read"....
You are an awakened soul walking this earth with her eyes wide open and her heart truly receptive to the universal language of what is most real........the exquisite tiny moments that we find ourselves continually in, and which above and beyond all things, are the most important part of this journey - yes.....being in the NOW, in the moment, and soaking up every experience........ that is how I see Julie Marks.....
(and perhaps even more interestingly, perhaps you are holding up a mirror in which i see my own aspiratons....)

Hi Julie...well thank you so much for your wonderful comment....I have not had time to start sharing art and writing here yet, though have assured Helen and others I will when time and family/life commitments allow me.... Yes it is wonderful to have a place like this where truly like minded people can share their creativity and self expression.....
I love your slide show that is playing as I write this.....a beautiful showcase of your images......and who you are....

Hey Julie! I agree - so much tasteless soft porn, objectification of human beings, and just plain crap. Sorry, but no - everyone is NOT an artist. Harsh truth that no one wants to hear.

Click HERE: http://bascomphoto.ning.com/forum/categories/hints-tips-tutorials/listForCategory for some tutorials on how to navigate the site and add content. I hope you have fun.

If there is anything I can do to help you market your art, let me know.
