The Disappearance

Yes, I did disappear. For months and months. Well, I've been around, just not very active, I'm afraid. The summer was tough, and autumn seems to be shaping up to be just as tough.

There hasn't been a lot to inspire one lately; bad weather throughout the summer, and an autumn full of cold temperatures and rain makes me want to curl up with a good book, instead of run around outside with a camera.

I did force myself to go to the Digital Imaging Show in Toronto a couple of weeks ago (hate going to Toronto). The camera shop we deal with gave us a couple of free tickets...which I forgot at home so I had to buy my way in to the show...figures.

I'm not entirely sure the show was worth the entry fee, but it was interesting. Lots of workshops for free, but most of them were things I could have taught - which I discovered after sitting in one one.

I did, however, buy a new lens...which I didn't really need. It's pretty nice though - a sigma (which I normally wouldn't buy) 120mm-400mm with image stabilizing. To this point I've taken half a dozen shots with it, just to test it's sharpness and I was surprised by how nice it is. I had 14 days to return it if I wanted, but I think it's a keeper. Now...if I could just get out and use it :)

I've still been writing tutorials, but since I haven't been around the bubble, not many people are probably aware of that. They are currently posted to my blog (http://photographyblography.blogspot.com) and to a new site I've been working on for over a month (yeah, I know - very slow, but the CMS has some issues I'm trying to deal with, like no gallery function yet to upload the 500+ free stock photos I'm planning to add).

OH - AND A NOTE FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHERS: I'm looking to add some listings for wedding photographers to my Photography blog (pro or semi-pro) - from all over. So if you do weddings (yes, I know...ugh) and want a listing, please send me your info.
